APS 4 Claims Officer [Australia]


 

Pay rate: Starting at an APS4 Level $44p/h + super and then eventually after a few months training moving up to an APS5 Level $50p/h + super.

Contract: Starting July after security checks have come through clear. The contract currently is until the end of financial year (Federal departments annual budget allocations), however, this is highly likely to extend and should be treated as a long-term opportunity.

Location: Perth CBD with some WFH days after a few months training.

Hours: Full time 37.5 hours per week. Flexibility is offered after a few months training with start times between 7am to 11am, working 7.5 hours per day with a 60-minute lunch break.

We are seeking individuals that have a knack for Claims or managing a caseload with an analytical mind.

In this role you will be part of the Incapacity Payments team, dealing with claims and payments, managing cases and liaising with clients and dependants regarding payments. Incapacity payments are compensation for economic loss due to the inability (or reduced ability) to work because of an injury or disease that has been accepted as service related.


Duties will include but not limited to:

  • Answering calls or email correspondence and providing information to assist client queries
  • Managing cases and processing multifaceted claims following set steps and processes and applying legislation to the claim process
  • Undertaking research to inform evidence-based decision making
  • Actively investigating claims, working with clients and stakeholders (healthcare providers and medical experts) to supply evidence to inform decision making, chasing up documents and referral letters
  • Reading case notes and determining outcomes


Desirable skills and attributes for the role:

  • The ability to demonstrate empathy and patience for individual's circumstances is essential
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills
  • Experience working within the healthcare sector, claims, injury, finance, community services or managing a case load is highly regarded
  • Previous experience working through claims or injury management cases
  • Payroll or Accounts receivable/payable experience highly desirable
  • Experience with financials or the ability to understand and process basic calculations
  • The ability to read and interpret medical notes and legislation
  • Proven ability to gather information and make confident decisions
  • The ability to show patience and listen to clients over the phone
  • Demonstrated ability to follow process, policy and legislation
  • Resilience, grit, an analytical mind and a proactive attitude are all essential
  • Proven experience picking up internal software's and sounds knowledge of MS Suite
