The Application Engineer will be part of an international team that works in the design of Sony Semiconductor Solutions Image Sensors with a specialty on innovative automotive products. We strive to maintain our global lead in imaging and become the worldwide leader in the field of sensing applications through integrated development, design and production of CMOS image sensors. This profile will have a good technical acuity and presentation skills, and will cover many aspects as schematic verification, code review, lab characterization, data analysis, programming, etc.
About the Role
Reporting to the Application Engineer Manager, you will be responsible for testing, evaluating performance and improving product image quality to help customers build their cameras and solve various application issues relevant to the image sensor product.
You will also review customer camera designs, making special reference designs based on customer’s requirement, optimizing sensor settings and image quality tuning based on requests from customer, and writing various technical documents for customers to use the sensor correctly.

You will work cross-functionally with multi-cultural teams, based in Norway, Germany, UK and Japan.
At the stage of customer evaluation for our sensor, you will drive customer support and help Field Application Engineers support their customers, helping them to set up and troubleshoot, as well as providing onsite support.
Finally, you will deliver several training activities as well as create support materials for Sales and Marketing teams.
You Have:
- MSc or equivalent in Electronics or related degree
- Academic Background: Technical, Electronics, Semiconductor, Physics.
- Knowledge of sensor architecture, image and colour processing, evaluation and improvement of image quality and hardware is required
- Significant experience in CMOS camera applications
- Experience with electronic design
- Experience with software tool development, optics, system level design and debug, FPGA and MCU firmware development is a big plus
- Passion for technology plus a pragmatic attitude to deliver
- English fluency and preferred additional languages such as Norwegian and Japanese
