What will you be doing !

  • Dispatch transportation requests received by telephone to radio equipped trucks in the field ensuring customers needs are satisfied.
  • Schedule replacement drivers to cover drivers off on DOR, vacation, sickness and other assignments.
  • Schedule drivers for overtime, off-site trips and special assignments including preparation of written detailed instructions ensuring that drivers depart and arrive on schedule.
  • Reply to telephone inquiries regarding routes, schedules and other services provided by Transportation & Fleet.
  • Arrange transportation for non-routine requirements.
  • Enter data onto computer database to produce reports etc..
  • Detail drivers as per Emergency Procedures during Stay-ins, Evacuation and other emergencies. Remain on duty until dispatch requirements are no longer required.

What we are looking for :

  • Secondary school graduation or its equivalent.
  • Minimum of five years of pertinent experience in the transportation industry.
  • Ability to effectively with others within the scope of the position.
  • Have supervisory abilities when required in this position.
  • Must be reliable, trustworthy and possess a keen sense of responsibility.
  • Must possess a working knowledge of computers or have the capacity and willingness to acquire such knowledge.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of vehicle licences, weight capacity, including MOT regulations required in scheduling vehicles and drivers.
  • Must have a good knowledge of CRL building locations and facilities as well as local areas – Deep River, Chalk River, Pembroke and Petawawa.
  • Must have a working knowledge of CRL Policies and Procedures and collective agreements
  • Must possess the ability to work under pressure.

Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, United States and/or the United Kingdom.
